Build A Rose

Taking the time to create a work of art that leaves you feeling astonished to the effect of appreciating what you have created by hand has been a long tradition shared amongst crafters and artists.

With so many people in the world->🌎🌍🌎 today, we strive to continue to help ourselves and help others achieve greatness. It’s what is in our nature to do for others as we do for ourselves.

We have to take care of ourselves first otherwise we cannot help others. As an individual, it’s up to me to be a part of this planet Earth->🌎🌍🌎 and it’s my duty to be humble for what I wish to do with respect.

So, given that, I want to introduce you to one of my crafty handcrafted ideas 💡😉 that I have taken a step further than the normal standard of what many already know how to make.

Handcrafted tissue roses are usually made by folding and shaping tissue paper to resemble the petals of a rose. They’re a popular DIY craft for events like weddings, parties, or decorations. With some patience and creativity, you can make beautiful and realistic-looking roses in various colors and sizes. They’re often used as decorative accents or even as part of gift wrapping. Would you like tips on how to make them?

Toilet paper and paper towel roses follow a similar process to tissue paper roses. The main difference is the material used. Toilet paper and paper towels can create softer, fuller, and more textured roses compared to tissue paper. The technique typically involves rolling and shaping the paper to mimic the petals and then assembling them into a rose shape. These roses can be quite charming and are often used in crafts, DIY projects, or even as gag gifts. Would you like detailed instructions on how to make them?

Here’s a basic guide to making roses from toilet paper or paper towels:

  1. Materials Needed:
  • Toilet paper or paper towels
  • Green floral tape
  • Scissors
  1. Preparation:
  • Tear off several sheets of toilet paper or paper towels.
  • Crumple each sheet lightly to soften it and give it texture.
  1. Forming the Center:
  • Take one sheet and roll it into a tight cylinder to create the center of the rose.
  • Secure the end with a small piece of floral tape.
  1. Creating Petals:
  • Take another sheet and fold it in half diagonally to form a triangle.
  • Roll the triangle around the center you created earlier, starting at the pointed end.
  • As you roll, slightly twist the paper to create natural-looking petals.
  • Secure the end with floral tape.
  1. Adding More Petals:
  • Repeat the process with additional sheets, wrapping them around the center and slightly overlapping the previous petals.
  • Continue adding petals until you achieve the desired size and fullness for your rose.
  1. Finishing Touches:
  • Once you’re satisfied with the size and shape of your rose, wrap the base with floral tape to secure everything in place.
  • Trim the excess paper towel or toilet paper from the bottom of the rose to create a clean stem.
  1. Optional: You can also add leaves by cutting out leaf shapes from green paper and attaching them to the stem using floral tape.

That’s it! With a bit of practice, you can create beautiful roses using toilet paper or paper towels. Feel free to experiment with different techniques and variations to achieve the look you want.

Personalizing your toilet paper or paper towel roses can add a special touch to your creations. Here are some ideas to enhance their look and feel:

  1. Color Variation: Use colored toilet paper or paper towels to create roses in different hues. You can also paint the petals with watercolor or acrylic paint for a unique look.
  2. Scented Petals: Infuse the paper with your favorite scent by spraying it with perfume, essential oils, or room spray before shaping the petals. This adds an extra sensory dimension to your roses.
  3. Glitter or Sparkle: Sprinkle glitter or metallic powder onto the petals before shaping them to give your roses a glamorous sparkle.
  4. Ribbons and Embellishments: Wrap a ribbon around the stem of the rose or add decorative embellishments like beads, sequins, or faux pearls for an elegant touch.
  5. Personalized Messages: Attach small tags or labels to the stem of the rose with personalized messages or quotes. This is perfect for gifts or special occasions like weddings and birthdays.
  6. Customized Wrapping: Present your roses in a customized wrapping, such as a decorative vase, a handmade paper box, or a fabric pouch. You can also add tissue paper or shredded paper as filler for a polished look.
  7. Theme-Based Roses: Create roses that fit a specific theme or occasion, such as Valentine’s Day, Christmas, or a particular color scheme for a party or event.
  8. Mixed Media: Combine your paper roses with other materials like fabric, feathers, or dried flowers to create mixed media arrangements for a visually stunning effect.

By incorporating these personalized touches, you can elevate the look and feel of your toilet paper or paper towel roses and make them truly unique and special.

I have included a few pictures of some of the roses I made by hand over the years. I am unsure when I began making them. Somewhere around the year 2009.
